HI!

Is any of you afraid of a particular species of butterflies? I'm terribly afraid of owl butterflies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owl_butterfly LINK HAS PICTURES). They are quite common here in Brazil. They have scary owl 'eyes' on the wings, and they are very big (up to 20cm!!). Funny things is that i don't really hate other smaller butterflies, and have no problems looking at pictures of it. I actually find some of them beautiful. I just don't feel comfortable with the real thing flying close to me. Rolling Eyes

Okay, that was SCARY! Honestly, I didn't want to keep looking at it, it's just way to frightening. I got goosebumps Confused

Well, since I don't know many butterfly species, I guess I should say the monarch since I live in Canada.

i live in the UK and im petrified of the red admiral and the peacock. the red admiral glides through the air rather than repeatedly flapping its wings, theyre extremely fast because they have quite a large span. the peacock is similar, they have peacock like eyes and circles on their wings, they have jagged edges to their wings as well.

urrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhh, does anyone else think it would be REALLY convenient to NOT have this phobia?!

seriously though watch out for those peacocks!

The big black ones scare me the most. They look like pure evil. The large black and yellow ones are horrible too. The bigger the butterfly is, the more terrified I am!

I had saw a big colored butterfly which stick on my house door. I still can remember the combination colors of it.. purple, yellow, pink and black!
I'm sure that most of females like those kinds of colors.. but not me!
Since that day, I was REALLY horrified if I saw the combination of those colors.. duh!
